SUAMICO
Suamico is a 36-square-mile municipality located in the Northwest corner of Brown County, just five miles North of Green Bay. Historically, Suamico has been known as a rural community but has developed into a highly desired residential area for those who seek the country style of living but desire the amenities of being close to a larger metropolitan area. Suamico has a wide variety of boutique shopping, dining and nightlife balanced by extensive outdoor recreational opportunities. With a current population of just under 11,000, houses are now interspersed between the woodlands, while cropland and pastures have given way to subdivisions and retail developments. The village has one of the finest waterfowl and wildlife preserves in the area at the Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve. It also is home to the N.E.W. Zoo.
Outdoor recreation is abundant within the Suamico area. Hiking, biking, cross-country ski trails, and bayside fishing spots along the bay of Green Bay and the Suamico river keep area residents active.
